| Past
events:
We have lead past tours to Finland, Russia, Estonia, and to
Latvia. Our main focus has always been the Eastern-Northern
Fronts of World War Two and in the future such tours will continue
in these areas. Here are just some of the highlights of past
tours.
Highlights of past tours:
Two meetings with the famous Finnish Winter War sniper, Simo
Hayha. The late Mr. Hayha was a private man who stayed away
from most public meetings but twice he was willing to meet with
our groups at the Salpa Line. To be able to spent time with
a legend such as this is hard to put into words and everyone
involved will remember this meeting for a lifetime.
Closed door access to military museums in Finland-Russia-Estonia-Latvia.
With our great contacts we have been granted closed door private
tours at a number of military museums. In most cases these lead
by the curators of these museums. As in almost all cases the
truly interesting items in a museum are rarely in public view,
so we have been able to see many prototype and like weapons
in the past.
Tours to many "unknown" battlefield areas.
As we have been able to use our contacts to meet and discuss
areas
with veterans, there are many tours we have taken that no
one from the West have attempted before. Some of theses tours
such
as Summa and "Egg Hill" are tours that were not only
educational but were in areas that are closed to most.
Meetings with veterans - Very few groups have access to actual
vets that took part in the fighting but at Battletours we have
provided this on each of the past tours. On the last trip our
group took two former Russian snipers and one anti aircraft
gunner out to dinner. A fine time was had by all and great insight
was given.
Private tours of private weapons collections - Some fantastic
collections have been viewed by members of our group in the
past. Both weapons collections as well as massive militaria
collections dating from 1900-1950's.
Special features - Discussions with historians and weapons
collectors.
